How do pregnancy tests work ?

To know if you are pregnant, the pregnancy test is one of the most practical and reluing methode.

All pregnancy tests work by derecting a certain hormone in the urine that is only there when a woman is pregnant. This hormone is called human chorionic gonadotropin or HCG and appears approximately 10 days after the egge is fertilized.

The are 2 types of pregnancy tests, one tests the blood for HCG and the other cheks the urine for the HCG. The first one has to be done through a doctor and the second can be done by yoursef using a home pregnancy test (HPT).

If you are using a home pregnancy test the result will appear immediately, if the test is positive a blue color appears and it means that you might be pregnant at 99%. To make sure that this result is true contact your doctor and ask for a blood test.
